The International Music Summer Schools in Évora, August 2007, will be held in the Colégio do Espírito Santo Located in the historic heart of Évora. Here we will offer specialist tuition by world-famous professional musicians aiming to provide you with high quality coaching and training in music performance, technique and style, on period instruments - masterclasses in singing, violin, cello, harpsichord, oboe, basso continuo and chamber music (strings and winds).
The teachers invited for the International Music Summer Schools in Évora are international artists, who build up a great team: Gustav Leonhardt (harpsichord), Maria Cristina Kiehr (voice), Enrico Onofri (violin), Gaetano Nasilo (cello and chamber music), Alfredo Bernardini (oboe and winds).
Classes will cover a variety of topics including historical perspectives on the instrument repertoire and technique. These Masterclasses will be highlighted by a series of concerts in several historical places in the Alentejo’s region.
The basic tuition fee for singing and instrument courses covers individual lessons, collective lessons and the ensemble workshops. Numbers on each course are limited, so please apply early to secure your place. Non-participating partners or friends who might like to join you during your stay at the Evora University’s residences are welcome.
Observers, whether music specialists or complete novices, are also welcome. Participants will experience total immersion in music, with expert tuition, in the delightful atmosphere of an historic College of a Potuguese University. A series of concerts by some of the finest teachers and performers runs concurrently with the courses, for the benefit of participants and the general public.
We are particularly keen to encourage music students and those setting out on a career in music, for whom these courses will be exceptionally helpful We have a small Scholarship Fund to support those whose financial situation would prevent them from attending courses without assistance.
